Tiny fig tree fruiting

I recently planted a petite negri fig tree in a pot in pacific northwest. It's still mostly rainy with a few sunny days and doesn't get above 60 degrees. I looked at this little tree today (It's about 3 1/2 feet tall) and it has the beginnings of one leaf and 2 tiny figs starting (about 1-1 1/2 inches). I didn't expect to see figs at all this year and certainly not before the fig got going. Is this normal for petite negri? Should I remove them for the sake of the tree or let them try to develop?
