I agree with matching the upper cabinets.

Thank you for your input! The vent hood we want is not available in the same color as the upper cabinets. The only options we have are wood to exactly match the island or we were considering white since its a neutral and would match the counters.

Hmmm...just concerned a white hood that close to gray cabinets could be iffy. However, maybe it will help with the glass cabinet fronts you mentioned...especially with your countertops and maybe all white dishes behind the glass. It could help with balance and also look calming. I only say that because we have glass fronts with all white dishware inside. No hood nearby...I just like the way it looks. Interested to hear from the pros about yours.

Ok good to hear. That was my main concern to that the white and the light grey would be too close and just look off. I think we are going to order a wood hood and then maybe paint it if we decide we do not like it. Which may be a pain, but probably easier then going from painted to wood! Thank you for your input. Its really so helpful!

Nancy, I was just looking online, and there are certainly tons of examples where the hood and cabinet colors are different. Also many where the hood just ties to the island, such as this one. Maybe the wood stained hood would work.
