'Shailer's Provence' is new to me and very pretty.

Shailer's Provence is a centrifolia that is quite common in old gardens and yards across the midwest, but often unidentified. It grew in front of my childhood home, and as an adult it took me years to figure out what variety it was and to obtain another. Also, here is a photo I somehow missed:

It is very vigorous and very hardy. Since I grow roses in containers, it is unsafe to keep most of them outside during the winter, so into the garage they go. Applejack is one of the few exceptions, it is hardy enough to stay outside even in a container. And there is very little if any dieback. It is also fragrant, and is covered in blooms during the spring flush. So far I have had no repeat beyond the spring flush. The only problem is, it quickly outgrows even the largest pots and I have to give it away and start over lol. Maybe if it were in the ground and allowed to grow to full size it would have some repeat, as rumors say it will. It is pretty disease resistant too.

Sharifa is just as pretty as I remember. Take a good long sniff for me!
