It's a Ventracosa or Ventrata. You can cut the dead pitchers off at the leaf tips. Just cut about 1/4 inch below the leaf tips. Keep it ALWAYS MOIST (NEVER let it dry out) and give it bright indirect Sun.

Leave it in the soil it's in for now. Standard mix is 50% perlite and 50% peat moss. But DO NOT use Miracle Grow products! You want a brand that DOES NOT contain any fertilizers in the soil mix.

Once they get to this size they can grow fairly rapidly. Purslane is quite correct -- this plant has no current growth points. Cuttings of the upper portion from each stem have been taken. The nursery owner likely decided to take cuttings to start two new plants and sell off this, the "mother" plant. (Hence the reason it was discounted.) On the plus side, each stem should form at least one new lead further down the stem.

Ventratra plant, ventricosa has more of a wide peristome cut all the cups off you can either repot it using LFSM with perlite mix, or peat/perlite. My plants grow better with LFSM though does take about a year for the plant to establish properly. Spray liquid seaweed solution monthly

Hi everyone, thanks for the info. I agree the growth points have been cut off looking at it, however of the past week some new shoots(?) have appeared in this area (See pic) - any idea what this is.

At the moment i've planted in some specialist carnivorous plant soil cut with perlite - is that okay? Also, what does LFSM mean?

And where can I get good liquid seaweed spray, would amazon have it?

I'm a little late here, but "LFSM" is long-fiber sphagnum moss. I hope all is well with your pitcher plant!
