Should I light the tray ceiling?

Somehow I originally posted this on the appliance forum. Not sure how I did that, but I'm changing it now.

We'll have a tray ceiling over an 8' island with 2 pendant lights. The GC wants to know if I want recessed lighting around the perimeter of the tray. Honestly it never occurred to me. We will have tape lighting under the cabinets. Does anyone have this? And if so, do you like it? Any pictures?

My sister did that and it is beautiful. Gave so much more light and was dimmable. I'd go for it.

I'd try not to accentuate the fact that I had a tray ceiling but you would only need to turn it on when you needed extra lighting so it might not be a bad idea.
