Hi. This is my first post but have been unable to find an answer with the help of much googling! I have a sunny spot by the front wall and would like to plant a rose there. I remember my parents having a rose that grew over an arch that gave out a beautiful old rose fragrance which filled the garden with the scent. Whilst I did ask them it's name, and cleverly thought of a memory aid to remember it by which I've now forgotten! My profile pic is a picture of it. I've bought a couple of roses - St swithuns (supposedly a strong scent but I can't smell much at all) and Comte de chambord (really has that beautiful old rose scent when up close but not that intense fill the garden smell I remember). I guess partly its number of flowers In bloom and weather, but I've never come across another to match it. I was very glad to find a "waftingest rose" thread, and am now wondering if it could be Albertine, a rose I know my parents had elsewhere in the garden. Unfortunately, my parents can no longer remember the name of the rose though I have a picture here. I would love to have the same for sentimental reasons, but failing that something similar.
Zeffyrose seems to be the resident rose and albertine expert, so shout out to zeffyrose or any other clever rose lovers....and thanks
