More of a lavender/less intensely purple (really a wine color). But the very dark veining remains and is maybe even more pronounced.

Mine is in a pot in a fair amount of shade. I have had years with some green showing before fall. Its a good looking fellow though.

Thanks for the replies, when I planted the tree I thought there would be more sun than there is. Now that everything has leafed out it gets dappled sunlight only. I have it fairly close to my moonfire which might get just a little more sun and it absolutely glows when the sun hits it in the afternoon. I also just got a multi trunk fireglow which I'll be planting in the next day or two.

Even in full sun our purple ghost greens out quite a bit as summer goes on. It's only a few yrs in the ground, though, so perhaps that will change?

That spring colour is pretty spectacular, though.

It seems that it has already lightened up some from when I got it. It does not have the dark veining that I had expected (at least not compared to my Amagi Shigure). There are already some leaves down low or under the top canopy which are a very nice almost translucent green.
