Linen Cabinet Decision

We lack storage in our house, including a good linen cabinet for storing blankets and sheets. We are contemplating the idea of building a custom cabinet in our hallway for linens but I am struggling with visiually seeing it to decide.

Here is a picture of the space outside the bathroom door (left of the door) we are looking at building the cabinet and the drawings from the contractor.

I welcome any thoughts on if this will work or not. Or if it will make my hallway seem smaller.

I would not go all of the way to the door trim with the cabinet on the right. Change it to a one door configuration (do one door on top and one on bottom, instead of the pair on top and bottom), and keep it to 22" wide or so. That should also cut down on cost, because you are doing 2 doors instead of 4.

Also, I would not put it all of the way up to the ceiling. I would cut it down maybe 8"- 12" just so it isn't such a "towering" cabinet (this is shown with the grayish blue cabinet below).

Definitely match the stain on your doors/base to the cabinet, that way it will look like it was always there. Also, maybe consider adding a drawer for quick finds! (the white cabinet shows the one door configuration and the drawer)

Our plan is to stain the cabinet to match the woodwork.
