Stain the whole oak staircase or do white risers and stringer?

Hello! My husband and I are building a house and the lumber company accidentally made the entire staircase oak (risers, treads and stringer.) We were originally planning to have the treads stained to match our hardwoods (a brown/grey stain) and have the risers, spindles and stringer white (we are also staining the banisters black.) We are having the walls painted a light grey. Now that the whole staircase is oak, they are asking if we want all three elements stained. Many professionals have told us that they wouldn't recommend painting over oak with white. Obviously if we stain the entire thing, that is a much different look. We are stuck and would love feedback on what we should do! I'm not sure which one would be a better "style" to go with. We have also been advised to get it all stained and if we hate it- paint the risers and stringer white. For more background- we are going for kind of an industrial/rustic chic look (with some modern and traditional elements.) Any suggestions or opinions are welcome!
