I have four Puya Alpestris that were growing slowly in a shaded area, so I transplanted them into a large concrete planter with direct sun. I put them into a structured soil, using filtered redwood bark, lava rock, and turface (water-absorbant clay). This is to give a fast-draining soil. I also added some time-release fertilizer.
One of the four plants has its tips rapidly turning brown. See the attached photo. Any theories about why this plant is dying and is there anything I can do to save it?
The photo with the flowers is what the mature plant looks like in bloom. It is one of the most beautiful alpine desert plants in the world.
