Intermingling Scotch and Irish mosses

If I plant a
3"x3" patch of Scotch moss Sagina subulata 'Aurea' and a
3"x3" patch of Irish moss Sagina subulata spaced apart by 4",
will the 2 mosses intermingle in the 4" space as they spread?

Or is there an easy
way to intermingle the 2 mosses?

(I realize that they
are not true mosses)
