How long do citrus leaves last?

Anyone know the average lifespan before dropping and being replaced?

Is there a time of year when it usually happens?

Any difference between potted trees that spend much of the year inside and outdoor trees?

Would be nice to know so as to be able to distinguish normal healthy leaf drop from stress induced leaf drop.

About 1-8 months if you live up north and take your trees in and out with the season changes.

A healthy citrus leaf has a life span of approximately 2 years. (18 to 24 months), no matter the location.

I have never measured to know for sure; but I tend to agree with OJ. I think under best conditions the lifespan would even be longer.

My outdoor citrus trees are showing a 2 year life for its leaves. I am very skilled at moving trees in and out with minimal leaf drop but that stress shortens their lives quit a bit. It is much easier to take a tree in November's low sun short day and go inside to artificial light than going outside in Mays blazing solar heat and hours.
