Those are beautiful looking! Great find! It's a good thing that I can't find citrus locally because if I saw plants like those I would buy them all! Haha! I'm sure they will be happy in your hands!

Hey Laura, so you got an olive tree. Is that your next addiction? Mine is figs. I just got 10 new fig varieties this spring. It is too cold here to plant them in ground so they will go into my basement, then into the greenhouse and then outside for the summer.

I am wondering if I should get some citrus in pots too after seeing all your posts! Just because I live in citrus country doesn't mean I have to find real estate for them, right? Also, Vladimir, my house was built on a plot of land that used to have a redwood and a fig grove! So I get volunteer fig saplings all over the yard! I am told they actually grow and bear figs rather well! But right now, I am treating them as weeds, and cutting them down before my dog eats them! (Apparently fig leaves are sweet and dogs love them!)

kcandmilo- oh you should totally get some in pots! You wouldn't even have to worry about bringing them in or anything! I would get a super special one and have it on the deck/patio!

Vladimir, no I don't think olives will become an obsession. I got it only because my son gave me so much grief over getting another key lime ;-). I have been through a fig obsession and this year may be the first to really bear fruit so to speak ;-). I have five fig trees in the ground - one is huge and has never produced fruit (it is a black mission fig), the others are already carrying lots of figlets and this is only their first batch. Come August, I will have to find some creative fig recipes. Last year I halved them, added a dollop of goat cheese, wrapped them in prosciutto, and baked them....YUM! Kcandmilo, JohnM here grows citrus in pots on his rooftop in Guatemala. They produce very well for him. I would try a few in pots if I were you! Oh, and I also make a brandied fig jam that is quite good. Today I hosted a brunch for my daughter's first communion, and I served cheese, crackers, and my calamondin marmalade to start....delicious!

Matt, I am very happy for you..Fortunately I am not into eating citrus so for me I look for fragrance and most to me smell the same. So any tree to me makes me happy. Did you pay a lot for them?

Those are beautiful! It's so very hard to resist. I just found very small meyer at home depot last night. I'm not really "allowed" to buy anymore trees but it's SO HARD NOT TO! I live in SoCal and have 4 in the ground and now 3 in pots. I was supposed to stop....

We've had a nasty cool and wet spring not hitting much above 70F.

Here's the Meyer today in full bloom (there are 3 or 4 clusters like this around the plant. We'll see how many mature :)

The lime has a few flowers opening but nothing like the lemons.

BTW they raised the prices by $5 this year. It stinks but won't stop me from buying them!

Matt, us too..Just a nasty May, not many days 70, and not many sunny days either. We get two at the most sunny warm days to be followed by more days of cool and raw and cloudy..It's just so depressing. I miss the very warm springs when I was growing up. It was common to hit 80 in April when I was a kid..Nice find and yes, they have been charging a heck of a lot more for citrus plants, getting way out of my league..

Found this guy at Home Depot today. It's a mandarin of some kind. I'll go back for a kumquat when they go on sale.

They hadn't had them at HD for several years so I couldn't pass it up. It was repotted yesterday and had impressive root system.

Matt, you are so lucky to have found such nice trees. I wish they sold them here. The only place I can get mine is online or at nurseries...There I pay quite a bit. Too I start many from cuttings...Great find and I am sure they will do fine all summer. Preparing them to come in can be quite a chore, but we will chat about that when the time comes)
