Having been the artificial plant business for a number of years, I can tell you that you have a vintage ficus. If it's 'crunchy' when you touch it, then throw it out. It's done. I have to admit I do try to avoid artificial plants, however, there are some very good replicas for certain plants.

I purchased this one on Amazon and I'm very pleased with it. I bought it after I killed 5 corn plants in 8 years. I couldn't justify the expense, and I'm too old to be hauling heavy plants in the car anymore.

The other items I consider are succulents & white orchids. Most people can't tell the difference unless they touch them

I use fake osage oranges for centerpieces when I need green

and dried arrangements like this.

Better to go with the orchids than this

if it to fill that specific spot, a long thin rectangular piece of nature art, heavy on the greenery.

Is there sufficient light in this space. If so, try an Areca palm.

Try the trick of using a hair dryer on a cool setting to blow away dust before opting to get rid of it. Ficus trees were all the rage in the 1990s, but I think they’re timeless.

There are lots of new, sculptural artificial trees out there now.

The problem with the ficus trees of the 90s is they have too much foliage and are usually created in shapes not known to nature.
