Contact cabinet pros in your area...not just a painter. Ask about their process...type of paint, prep, doors sprayed off site? Are u changing the hinges and door pulls? Oak has heavy grain and some grain will still be apparent after cleaning, sanding, 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint. They can use a special treatment for a smoother look if that's what you prefer. Good luck and keep us posted.

Good answer above...... Another option to consider is new door and drawer faces which is a fairly cost effective solution. They can even provide new gable panels etc. If you are happy with your current layout and configuration, this this can be a very satisfying solution.

This is not a DIY job if you are looking for good results.

Very first thing if you are keeping the cabinets and doors and drawers. Look into a painter that can give you the look, plus don't go with the cheaper bid, look into them as the end result will be more satisfying to you! Show some photos of your kitchen here as you will get better comments! Not to much the cabinet builders as the painter right now what you want. There is a process to painting wood work that will LAST over time!
