I like your console choice - it seems to tie in nicely with the wood trim, which I know you don't like, but I think adds some much needed warmth to the room. I'd do tables on both sides of the sectional. Maybe even two (or one longer one) on the long side.

Kathryn, yep, I think 2 tables, too. Only thing is---do I put lamps on them? or just the big overhanging one (shown above) and then another on an end table at the end of the sectional near the chaise? And thanks for the more rug options, off to look!

Oh--and I ordered this, too. Maybe end table near chaise? Not sure on this, but can always easily return.

Here's a console table with two lamps plus a lamp on the end table. Seems like overkill to me. I might actually ditch the endtable lamp and keep the console table lamps. Although they seem very close together in this example. I'd like them better further apart, especially given the size of your sectional. I think the arc lamp will still work with them.

Or Maybe no lamps on console? Just arching and on end-table? Unsure what else to put on them, maybe a decorative box (to put remotes in) etc? I know they will be functional for putting drinks on when sitting.

Took a look at you proposed furniture arrangement w/ a chair. See how your glider words there but ideally I'd suggest a swivel chair. (your kids will love it...)

You have so much coming in--I can't wait to see it in your room. I'm so visual...I can't imagine things in my head like the Pros seem to do. Then you can shift and tweek and return if necessary but I think you've done great w/ basics.

Really seriously thinking about that rugsusa option above. Reviews are good expect some say not super soft and maybe more beige than ivory in background? But a great price for sure and would lighten room.... decisions are so hard!

I love a bright, bold rug and can attest to them being great with kids. We have the larger version of this one (paired with a medium grey couch) in our living room.

They are usually too small to see-you need to get up close. Maybe that's why they are in hallways so much.You might have the console table behind the sofa and this I could live with. (since i'm moving in next week, ya know?)

On the kilm rug, no idea. I had to google that term, haha. But yes, I think so? The quality would seem good, but the reviews on anthro aren't positive. I have heard good things about vintage turkish 100% wool rugs, too.

when you say anthro, do you mean anthropologie? many companies sell kilim rugs, there is even a kilim rug store online. and there are other makers of rugs that look much like kilims too. if you click underneath, it will take you to kilim rugs on esalerugs.com. they have been used by many, are very reasonable, and great returns too.

have you seen the latest? they put them on glass. i am really interested in that.

This rug is subtle with alot of colour choice.

instead of printing a pic on canvas, they will do it on curved glass. looks cool to me.

Updates and need more help! We got in the lamp, one console/sofa table, and a couple end tables.

--I love the lamp. It's dimmable and swivels. I might not keep it there? although it's functional there.

--Still very undecided on rug and have yet to find the ONE.

--Walls still need painted and Windows need some kind of something.

--Was thinking two sofa tables one behind each longer leg of sectional. This one seen I'm not entirely sure I love. The vases I just put on there for now.

on the curtain issue. i really like these, and they come in a pale blue etc.

The pieces look good! The lamp is very nice. I just did an ivory shag with flecks of grey and really like it. I'll upload a pic later for you to get an idea.

Add a large piece of Art over sofa and make it the focal point to anchor a room. A large piece of Art can really bring in a wave of deftness and add more color and life to your room. It acts as a style to your room.

Random thoughts, coming late to the party.... I like the lamp. I don't really like the console (I'm not sure you need one there). Big art would definitely be my vote over a family photo gallery. Keep the oak trim consistent with the rest of the open areas of the house. No to ordering the ottoman that comes with the couch, get a coffee table instead.

The sofa tables are honestly just for function. Most people just do one sofa table behind the sofa, but since we have a sectional we were considering two, one behind each leg. I'm just not sure about this one pictured in terms of color and style.

BarrowP, what about a big ottoman with a tray? We just want the foot rests, as we sit that way a lot.

I just like coffee tables better for both form and function. Mine gets way more use as a place to put a wine glass or coffee cup than as foot stool. I actually have a glass table, and when we want feet up we grab a small pillow. If your family is all about the feet and not the beverages, then an ottoman might be better for you. To me, the tray thing looks nice, but then the function is not ideal for feet or beverages. But, a lot of people do it.

If you do get an ottoman, I still say don't order the matching one. Make it interesting. Also, you already have an ottoman in the room, so that one would need to go away.

I think it was Flo Flanagan on there who initially suggested them. And then I realized how useful they could be for people who weren't sitting on the ends. To put drinks on and such. Plus they could be an added place for decor I guess.
