another k46 problem

LT180 with k46 tranny. Changed tranny oil @ 250 hrs with 10W-50 syn & again @ 500 hrs with 0W-50. I've mowed several times since the last tranny oil change and it ran fine. Went to move the tractor in free wheel by pulling out on the rod on the back of the mower. moved the tractor, pushed the rod back in and now the tractor does not want to go up a hill. I've tried the purging by fwd / reverse quickly but no help. I do notice that the free wheel rod is pulling out farther than in the past?? Any ideas?

I made an error in my post. The second tranny oil change I used 5W-50 syn. oil
