I get your style, but you have far too many pillows on the couch. It's looking messy. and the pink ones just do not go at all. they belong on a little girls bed. Remove all of them, and leave the blue ones that go w/the couch. straighten them so they fit. maybe you could use the 2 velour, ice blue ones. that's it. remove the other pillows on the chair. they don't go either. something in this blue coloring would look nice

What would really look cool against your art wall, is a walnut mid century modern credenza. the warm wood w/the aubergine wall and your eclectic art would really take it up a notch. something along this style. (a smaller one, not a very large one)

I think kjg3 has some nice suggestions. I also think an uber plush ivory shag would be nice. Top it with an antiqued brass cocktail table to anchor the conversation area. Here's a nice piece that would fit right in:

I'm not so sure about the throw pillows. The pastels and Nantucket stripes don't seem to relate the overall feel of the room - which reads very artistic and eclectic to my eye. You could think about richer and more luxe throw pillows to stand up to the drama that your color palette presents.

At some point you might want to think about an armchair that plays better with the feel of the room. The mission arts & crafts chair you have sort of looks alienated. Maybe put it in your bedroom and replace it with something that can hold its own. Like this:

I also think some wall-scaping could help tie everything together, too. The pieces appear to be grouped by theme and spread out. Think about mixing the clocks with the art & music as opposed to separating them. Also, you could think in terms of "featured" pieces, ie: those pieces you want to stand out and draw attention. The surrounding pieces would play support roles.

Sorry to venture away from the rug topic. I don't get to see rooms like this very often, so I got a little excited.
