Dark Desire

Dark Desire is on sale, half price at J&P. I have wanted to order it . I have been waiting for a sale and here it is $13.96 I think . But I honestly have no place to put it it would mean building another huge planter box and then filling it was soil. So it's hard to get a $14 Rose plus shipping of course and then have to spend $100 for its new home I'm not sure if I'm going to order it but it's out there if it's one you've been waiting for to go on sale.

Kristine isn't that the way it goes!! There are a couple of Austins that are on sale at heirloom and I want them but in order to do that I need to expand some bed and truthfully I'm worn out! Not to mention more mulch and then it opens up more roses I'll want . Oy!

you may find dark desire at lowes and a good size for $22. Maybe less if it's on the clearance rack!

Well, my rose gluttony got the best of me. I ore red it. Was there ever a.y doubt ? Lol

I remember my husband saying that he had some leftover wood from the three platter boxes he built me earlier so I checked in the garage and I will still have to buy a few boards but I won't have to start from scratch because he does have quite a bit of left ovet pressure treated wood. So, I'm going to call on his wonderful good nature and ask him to build me one more 4x4 planter box and hopefully this is the end of it.

It is $13.47 about $10 to ship.

It will be fairly close to Flamingo Rosita

My eyes will probablypip right out of my head with those colors

This is year two for me. Right now, it's likely to hit the shovel list this next winter. The blooms are smallish for a HT. Nice fragrance but they begin to scorch and burn before the flower is fully open. Pot pouri on the hoof so to speak.

Eeekkk. I hope mine don't have to get the shovel since I'm going to make my husband build me a big box to put it in he would not be amused

I've planted 15 roses this year and 19 perennials. I'm exhausted but I have 3 things left to plant. After this weekend no more planting till 2018

It must be regional differences because all the bloom on my two grafted DDs were huge and fragrant. The colour is between garnet and ruby red with black smudging adding depth. It's a very beautiful and elegant rose that didn't crips in our humid summer heat. It lasts on the bush until I cut them off.

Ashley we all know that when it comes to the promise to buy no more roses we are all big fibbers .

Summer, I'm glad that you were able to take advantage of this sale. I've been watching their 50% sale for a couple of weeks now but dark desire was not one of them .I tried to order it from heirloom and it was $40 so glad I waited . Even with shipping it was still $24.

Since they were tested here at New Flora in southern Oregon I know that they will do really well in my zone . I'm very excited to see that luscious color.

I hope everyone has a great success with all their new roses this spring it's an exciting time . We've waited so long through all the awful winter weather and all the rain and now finally roses starting to pop.

The answer is pots. You can never have too many potted roses.

So true. And there are so many beautiful pots

My problem with pots is they are so costly! I can use that money to buy yet another rose. I keep thinking there has to be someplace cheap to buy pots but even the cheapest ones at dollar general are like ke 12 bucks. I'm so stingy when it comes to the things my roses need but I've made a promise that if I'm going to buy the plants I had better be prepared to spend the money to keep them from dying.

I lucked out at HD. $20 for big resin half barrels

I like terra-cotta pots, the standard ones aren't too expensive.

Dark Desire is one of the roses not too happy in a pot. Don't know why but I have observed it several times - but maybe a really large pot. Kristine, it is a very happy rose in the Rogue Valley but a really big girl 4' x4' at least with big thick canes and lots of flowers.

    Is that big enough?
