@hopingtogetfit for some reason I wasn't able to even see your post till just now. I LOVE those blinds - that's exactly what I thought I wanted but then decided I needed something darker.

My question is are the blinds in the picture the original unlined ones or are they the lined ones? There's a lot of light coming through them - more than I would have expected.

I just ordered some free samples (with free shipping, love that!) from Select Blinds. An interior designer (Holly Mathis) posted a link for these. I actually like the "organic" imperfection, my house is pretty formal, due to all the moldings, and this might soften things up a bit?

We just ordered our blinds at Home Depot. We went with Bali. Fyi, it takes 4 weeks before they come in. Long wait...

Which one did you choose?

Picking up the thread since this was a helpful conversation and I wanted to follow up. My Bali cellular shades, woven wood Roman shades, and wood 2" blinds were installed one week ago. Purchased through HD. Unfortunately, I already have problems. I'm SO disappointed. The wood 2" blinds are fine. The Roman shades look awesome in terms of color, but were both cut crooked. One of them did not have bound edges, and fortunately on that one I was able to adjust the strings so that the bottom of the blind is level and stacks evenly. But the other is bound so I can't fix it myself.

As for the cellulars, I had been told by the HD Rep that she didn't recommend the cordless ones for my situation because this is a vacation rental property so I'm not in it every day, and if the cordless blinds go for a while without being operated, they will begin to sag and not operate properly. I really didn't want cords due to the look and more importantly the safety hazard (as a landlord I wanted to make sure that no renter's child was injured in my property). So I ordered the cordless anyway, thinking that when I'm in the house once a week I will just pull them all up and down and I shouldn't have a problem.

After installation, I looked at the operating instructions for the cellulars. I was surprised to see a warning saying that if the blinds aren't operated EVERY DAY they can start to have problems. I decided this must be overkill, and didn't worry about it. Well, this week I have no renters. I operated them all the blinds on Monday, and left them in the down position when I left the property. I came back today and nearly every blind was hard to put up, and will not stay tight in the upright position! They are sagging several inches, but by different amounts so they are all stopping in different positions. They look AWFUL! All because I wasn't here for three days! Even if this wasn't a rental property, how is anyone supposed to even go on vacation without coming home and finding their blinds all messed up?

I have been calling HD since Monday. They finally called me back as I was typing this. They are assuring me they will resolve the issue, but right now I'm skeptical. Hopefully others in this thread will not have these issues.

Ugh!!! lwfromny...how disappointing for you:( One step forward two steps back. Hopefully HD customer service will come through for you. I think that is one advantage of ordering through a Home Depot or Lowes...that you can go down there and talk to someone face to face and tell them your concerns...as opposed to ordering online. Keep us updated. I am expecting mine any day now and will post pictures when up.

Hi! Update: ended up ordering a simple light filtering levolor rollershade from Home Depot for 20% off. They installed them last week and I am extremely happy with them and Home Depot. They come with a 15 year warranty which is amazing (doesn't cover stains tho). Just wanted to share.

Maybe try a place that has some discounted prices!

Lauren, would you mind posting a pic? We just moved in a new construction and I had someone here today for roller blinds. It's their store brand and I'm waiting for an estimate. The light comes through the blinds but she said at night you can't see through( but it's not black out). I got a fabric swatch so will test tonight.

kjoy1, can't wait to see yours... thinking of that kind of blinds you ordered for breakfast bay window area... Fabric roman blinds are just so expensive.

You know I love the natural woven shades..have worked with Home Depot and always satisfied with install and customer service...my number one is using Smith & Noble when they have a sale it is usually Better than Home Depot and they have designers that to to your home with all the samples and do all the measure and install...great company to work with!! Did my home through them!:))

Went through directblunds.com and will never use them again......you have no customer service they are trerrible..with Home Depot you can have them serviced through their customer service because they installed them...and will work with Hunter Douglas and Bali to take care of any manufacture issues.

These are from Smith & Noble they are faux roman shade that cover my automated blackout blinds..they did drapes too!

These are functional natural woven Roman shades I used in dining room...I am so very pleased:)

I have those pictures in my ideabook and is one of the reasons I wanted woven wood blinds:) I do not have a Home Depot and Smith and Noble doesn't service my area:( I choose Bali blinds from Lowes. I've had a slight setback due to half of my liners being white and the other half being a buff/tan color...but I voiced my concerns to Lowes and they are making it right free of charge to me. So the only negative so far is that I have had to wait a little longer. I went with a whitewashed look...cross your fingers they look good;)

kjoy1, -hope you see this- can you share what the price difference was between those lovely blinds and the HD?

mylilikoi...my original Hunter Douglas quote was over 10,000:( The whitewashed Bali blind from Lowes was approximately 3,000:) Hope that helps:)

@kjoy1: I stumbled on this thread while researching trinidad whitewash for our living room. We like the shade and think this will go well with our other furniture. Did you get any liners with these? What kind?

Hi Sumit :) We did a white blackout liner and so glad we did...couldn’t be happier. When they were first done Lowe’s made a mistake and did half in the white blackout and half with a buff/tan color liner...I thought it was no big deal and I could live with the difference...so I hung them. The ones with the buff/tan liner had a definite orange hue due to the tan color and the sun shining through. The ones with the white blackout liner maintained their off white color and kept the sun at bay. So I took them back and had the white blackout liner put in all of them. Does that make sense? Kjoy - are your liners actually attached to the blind or are they a separate entity?

I have Hunter Douglas woven woods and the liner is completely separate - another set of cords and all. I took the liners down because I didn't like the messiness of all the cords.

I have had those HD roll-up light-filtering shades for easily twenty years. They have paid for themselves. To save some money, you could use them only on windows which face west or south and get too much direct sunlight.
