My husband and I are in the process of building our home. It's a log cabin exterior, but inside, rather than making it woodlands or lodge-like, I prefer a rustic chic, i.e. taking objects from nature like a tree stump end table and add in a little french country flair of curves such as a camel back dining chair (see http://www.frenchcountryfurnituredirect.com/salvage-chic-curved-back-dining-chair.aspx ) and sheer lace curtains.

I am having a tough time applying this vision to the kitchen! Most every picture I browse searching for French country kitchen yields a warmer tone of brown and reds. I prefer a blue or green...

The entire house will have wood flooring, except for the kitchen, for which I want grayish/bluish/greenish slate tiles. There isn't much wall space due to the open layout and lots of windows, but the available wall space in the great room with a 16 ft cathedral ceiling has log siding, and the loft area has pine tongue and groove, as do the ceilings in the entire house, including the kitchen. Rustic beams of course as well.

So, back to the kitchen: grayish/bluish/greenish slate tiles, pine ceiling, a rustic barn door -type pantry door with cultured stone surrounding it, floor to ceiling cabinets... I need help figuring what color cabinets, countertops, and stone to go with. I am also thinking that I do not want to paint the cabinets, just the center island. Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
