When my wife & I bought our home there was a either large sort of bush like plant in our backyard. The Bush had faintly pithey legs, mostly vertical. The Bush when it bloomed had large white balls of blooms that within a couple of weeks turned pink. It was a beautiful thing but it died over last winter.

I would appreciate any help in finding out what it was.
