A round rug will suit the room better perhaps. And my best advice to you is - hire a designer to just do a floor plan for you. This is tricky and you may get good advice here, but without measurements, it will all be useless to you! Designers - don't you agree that iwithout getting measurements for this person, it will be just playing and guessing around? Some things warrant hiring a professional... In my area I only charge $250-300 for a floor plan.

Belman Living- I beg to differ, the kitchen is the most popular place. You may start out in the living room but everyone ends up in the kitchen.

I actually like the colours in the rug. I think you need to center this rug or whatever rug you'll get in the round part of the room and arrange your furniture to accommodate that. You can get a sofa and two chairs and a round coffee table. It will be nice to have round as a recurring theme in the room, but I don't think you need a round rug or a round sofa.

Although of course you could go for that too.
But what bothers me personally if you have everything round, round wall, round sofa, round rug, round everything... your eyes keep following the round lines. No resting points.

I have had a rug designer in. He agreed it was a difficult area. A round rug won't cover the entrance to the room and he also thought it would look awkward to have so much wood floor exposed. He thought that although he really hates seeing rugs on an angle it gave me the most coverage. I can't go for a larger rug either- it starts to hit the curved areas of the wall! Crazy!

I have an undecorated turreted room also. We are going to use it for a sitting/music room. Had a designer here and she suggested a small sofa or love seat in front of the windows (as in your picture number 4). Then she suggested 2 small upholstered chairs facing each other on either side of the couch (we are going to call it the kids music room where they will "practice" therefore no arms on chairs). A coffee table and a console table or bookcase on the wall opposite the couch. Id' probably do an end table with a lamp next to sofa. We are keeping it simple! The rug is tricky in our case because we have wood inlays in the floor. Your rug looks a bit too large for your space but it maybe the camera angle. Good luck! It is a cool room!

So happy to hear someone has consulted a designer who can actually take measurements on site! From a glance at a photo I would've said round rug - but as you can see the rug designer came in - took measurements, assessed how much floor would be exposed, etc., and made a more accurate and appropriate recommendation! This is the value of hiring a pro, folks. As opposed to just posting photos online and having people shoot darts and hope they hit the dartboard...

possibly consider a custom cut rug that follows your dimensions. Keep it budget friendly by doing it out of an inexpensive, natural fiber. Best of luck!
