Frazzlehead's Container Meyer Lemon Post has me questioning how many types of grafts are done on citrus trees for hobby purchase. I first thought her Meyer was a rooted cutting but the point at where the two branches split looks just like my Buddhas hand from One Green World. I know that the BH is on Flying Dragon and it looks like three scions were grafted and one died off. All of my more established trees just have one scion and all of my new trees seem to have multiple. Since this is a new retailer for me I assume they get their trees from a different vendor who does things differently. So my question is, Is this normal and what are the advantages of it? All of the trees seem to have at least one failed scion is there a risk of that happening later or just while the graft is being established?

If it is two scions is that why the two branches are clearly growing different sized leaves? is one more preferable to another?
