Beautiful home and landscape. I too like #2 best with your exterior. If the large bush is blocking a direct view of the front door, consider removing it to showcase your new door. This will be an amazing upgrade. Enjoy the extra light too!

Thanks so much for the feedback...I have been debating over these doors for weeks! Decofriend, that bush does not quite block but it is quite large and can stand to be cut back some. The same with my juniper bushes on the opposite side. I would like to get some more color in there - would you agree?

I like the grid one too. I like the color of the wood, and the grid pattern seems to work off the grid of the bricks .

Personally, I like this rustic style front door, but I understand your need for light to enter in this area.

Wonderful, this makes my life easy! Everyone shared a resounding preference to door # 2.

Now, once I purchase this door. What color should I paint my shutters? I would like to go with something more saturated and deep than the current "country" blue.

I think both are too Victorian looking for your split…especially with that repro leaded glass window. You need mid-century/

judyg, what do you recommend? What style should I go with? I definitely need a door that lets in more light and am planning to replace the shutters and change the posts. I have been looking for the right fit for weeks. Help!

judyg, for some reason the photo that you listed did show when I originally read your post. I appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately, that mid-cent door does not match any of the other 5 entrances on my house. I don't want to completely change the style. Also, I am not a fan of "modern" design. I need a happy medium - what other options would you recommend?

Would you like something like that? I kind of like it because the pattern on the window on the door relates to the style of your window (squares).

I would not add the doors on each side though.

Oops, actually would add one door on the side but the glass would not be full length.

I personally think the style of #1 is dated. I would go with #2 and would paint the shutters a glossy black to bring out the black in the brick. I really like the variegated color of the brick.

tcufrog, thanks for your feedback and your recommendation on the shutters as well. What do you think about the posts at the entry way? Should I replace them with square or round posts considering that we are likely going with door #2?

I like the posts that are there since I'm a bit old fashioned but more streamlined posts will look more modern.

There are companies that do retrofit columns over your existing structural posts. I like #2 from the left square fluted. These are easily added to update the decor of any home. The second and third pix may be over scale But Im sure you get the idea.

Black shutters for sure and dont forget to paint the sash and paint out the trim around the door.
