eye pencil

Let me start out by saying that I don't do pricey cosmetics as a rule.

(though I can be pushed).

I don't know what has changed, but I always use an eye pencil to thinly line my eyes on the bottom. For a long time I was using ELF (you know $1 at Target) and it was wonderful. Even sharpened really nicely and went on easily. Lately I find it is not going on easily and not really coloring. I dont know if they changed or maybe my eyes are even dryer.

In any case, anyone have a really good eye pencil ( I like to be able to sharpen then and get them pretty thin) that goes on easily and is not a fortune? I do remember using pricey and less pricey and the $$ was not an indication of how pleased I was.

This one is my favorite. I have about 5 in different colors!

I've been using this Jordana eyeliner pencil that I picked up at the grocery store, and really like it.

I've never been one to wear eyeliner because it doesn't seem to stay in place for me, but this one does. I decided to give it a try because it was cheap. I had recently discovered Jordana nail polish and it's been great and long lasting, so I thought I'd give their other products a try.

I use Clinique and every once in a while I try something else and always get raccoon eyes from it migrating over the course of the day. Clinique goes on smooth, I can sharpen it easily and it never spreads where I don't want it too.

Is there a Sephora near you? You may want to try one first. I hate buying things that dont work for me

Have you tried warming up the tip a little with a lighter to see if that will help?

Not a "pencil", but this eyeliner is my absolute favorite! Goes on smoothly and lasts all day with no smearing.

I use a mix of drugstore and pricier makeup. But I have gradually stopped using any eyeliners besides Smash Box. They are roughly $20 each but go on so nicely without pulling or stretching that I don't use any other brands now. I always top the eyeliner with a wet brush with matching shadow. It seems to give it a better finish and last longer as well.

You may have just gotten a bad pencil from Elf. Since they are so cheap, I would try to buy another one and see if it is back to normal. But, it's not uncommon for brands to suddenly change. I usually end up with Wet N Wild, it's super cheap also and I have no complaints about it.

My favorite is Bobbi Brown's long-wear gel pencil. It swivels up/down and actually has a sharpener in the base (which I don't use very often).

If I need more of a point, the make-up artist showed me how to hold it steady and twist it around a few times using a tissue. Have to be careful not to swivel it up too long so the tip won't break but it works & cleans the tip too.

I was having the dry pencil problem for awhile. I solved it by first putting a dot of moisturizer on the tip and then always putting the cover on after I used it. It was drying out and dragging when it went uncovered. I only used the moisturizer once and it stayed moist if I kept the lid on between uses. Now I have switched to a little thin brush and powdered eyeliner. Takes a few tries to get the hang of it.

I adored a Prestige pencil in a color called Sage but I can't find it now.

I have allergies and eye makeup tends to wear off fast. I use L'oreal Infallible liquid liner. It is a wet liner but is very easy to keep thin for every day wear or can be built up for night. It isn't really infallible but for the price it lasts through a workday and still comes of with a makeup wipe without irritating my eyes.

I was reading all the replies- thank you all- and was trying to get to a Walgreens to find Jordana and now after reading Yayagal also raving about it- I know where I will be heading tomorrow lunch break. Hard to believe but there are not many Walgreen's around here:). Thank you all and I will update with my opinion.

I love Jordana's lip pencils, been using that for years. I DID buy an eye pencil some years back from Jordana but it made my eyes burn...bummer. My eyes are very sensitive though so don't let that hold you back.

I'm glad that you like the Jordana products Yayagal. Isn't it fun to buy a bunch of stuff to try it when the price is so low?

I've noticed that the Walgreens near me doesn't carry their full line. For instance, they don't have any of the nail polishes. I found more of their products at an independent grocery store.

I've seen Jordana at Kmart, if you still have Kmart, you could check there.

Terrriks, to add to that, it was all on sale so each item was marked down one dollar. lol I received my new Bobbi Brown pencil today and the packaging and appearance are lovely but it doesn't perform any better than the Jordana.

Well I finally made it to Walgreen's and after spending about 15 minutes scouring the make up area I found Jordana eye pencil!!! There were only about 3 left. I bought the black and used it this morning- and so so pleased! Will see over time hopefully I stay as delighted. It really did go on well (and it's thin which I like) and all of $2.79 I am a happy lady. Thank you:)

I will check out Jordana. never heard of it before I will have to hit Walgreens

Been using Jordana for years. Love their retractable liners. I pair the lip liners with my more expensive Channel lipsticks. Did not know it was sold at WMT. I usually go to a local beauty supply store. Thx for the tip.

I know this is an "old" thread and I still haven't checked out the Jordana but wanted to add a tip. Try using a lighter to warm the tip of the pencil, just for a second. I used to do that when I used a pencil rather than the liquid I use now.

Saturday I used make up for the first time since Thanksgiving. I've been studying tutorials and decided to try some tips I learned. While I was happy with the outcome more or less, I was not happy with how some of the products worked with my skin.

I'm going to check out this Jordana stuff-but I have some questions about concealers and bronzers. The stuff I'd been using as a concealer is a liquid, but it seemed to have seperated, even though I shook up the bottle. It goes on like lip gloss-with an applicator. I think it's L'Oreal-some drug store brand anyway.

When I put it on, it just caked. I used a lighted magnifying mirror to apply make up this time and I was really shocked at how much caking went on with my make up! I patted and blended to the best of my ability, but ended up washing it off.

What do you ladies recommend for concealer? Do you have a preference toward blushes and bronzers? I just want something that will go on smoothly and not settle in to the fine lines and look cakey. I was really pleased with how my make up ended looking the other night and I thought maybe I'd try wearing it more often. Since I've lost weight my face isn't so full and my cheekbones are coming back into view (can't do much about the jowls, thanks mother) so I would like to make myself feel a little prettier now and then.

For a Bronzer, which I don't use daily, I was at Walgreens and impulse bought Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I like it and it smells like vacation.
