I'm very partial to Harriette Ward and Sutherland Gold.

Sutter's Mill is spectacular, City Lights is also amazing. Both will be very large at maturity. SM is slow to increase, CL increases at an average pace.

I have no difficulty with this question. Sun Power, of course.

Sun power is a good plant, however Atlantis (which is a sport of sun power) is basically directly in front.

I was really leaning towards krugerand, but it doesn't seem to be readily available to me.

I can easily obtain a large 3 division (2 gallon) for $17 CAD. Key West I have read that it is more viridescent than I would like .

There are plenty of good large golds. Stardust, Golden Gate, Fort Knox, Solar Flare. Or you can make your own by crossing Stardust, Key West or Fort Knox with Komodo Dragon, Elatior or Empress Wu.

And when dhaven says Sutter's Mill is slow to increase, she ain't just-a-whistlin'-Dixie. If you are thinking about SM, the first question you have to ask is....How old are you?

Incidentally, Krugerrand is the same cross as Sutter's Mill.

Yes, I angle for muskies and will be on the water next Saturday for the Wisconsin opener. We have a cabin on the famed (or infamous) Chippewa Flowage. I wrote a book on musky fishing 37 years ago and have enjoyed some time on Canada waters. Nice northern you are holding.

Key West is a bit slow too. It is quite close to my Sutter's Mill. I've also got a Key West/Empress Wu cross that looks cool. Fort Knox is a better color and quite underrated.

We usually fish the Kawarthas for muskie. Good news is they're getting bigger and bigger every season . New size limits are working

I've mostly fished Eagle but was invited to Georgian Bay two years ago as part of Bill Hamblin's book (100 Days). Good book.

I got a Krugerrand from Jim's Hostas in Dubuque. It was a single eye and has been slow, but I love the way it looks. I have Midnight Sun, City Lights, Golden Sculpture, and Sun Power. All lovely, but they don't have a vase shape. Krugerrand is like a gold Krossa Regal. Will try to get a picture tomorrow. It's only three years old, and I'm hoping it leaps soon.

Oh Musky- you mentioned the Chippewa Flowage... and that brought back many memories of childhood family vacations to Moose Lake up there, near Hayward. I just love that area. Loved fishing with my Grandpa! And the restaurants around there were just the best!

Hi, Windy. It's a great area. The Chip and Moose are both wild and mostly undeveloped. Moose even has elk now. Round Lake had the very first Famous Dave's restaurant, one of the all-time great places. Unfortunately, it burned down and was replaced with something else.

I planted only four hostas at the cabin and chose some great ones -- Sun Power, Journey's End, Satisfaction and Elegans.

Well, not all yellow, but maybe the yellow portion is yellower (if there is such a word) because, after all, there has to be some green for chlorophyll somewhere. Not planned, but the yellow iris is a nice complement. Oh, Ivory Coast. Jon

I wanted a big gold to go in the middle of a Sagae group planting. It's taking FOREVER to grow, but looks like it will be bigger than the Sagae in a few years.

You all are just teasing me with all these big gold hostas. They are my favorites.

Had a Fat Cat but the leaves are supposed to be corrugated. The plant got wiped out by a falling tree branch. You have given me some ideas for a replacement.

I have had Solar Flare for a long time. It is now a huge plant, solid as granite. I will try to get a picture of it and post it here.

I hadn't heard of Solar Flare, but the Library says it starts chartreuse and turns more yellow.... that would be a good thing. I'd love to see your plant, dick_in_ohio.

I guess I am too old to be buying Sutter's Mill. I will just have to be happy with my two very large Solar Flare.

Sun Power is a bit vase-shaped, just a very large vase.

Aztec Treasure looks to get quite yellow. I have one, but it's pretty small yet due to some setbacks.
