Will not be hardy for you. It's a zone 7 plant.

Actually Margarita is hardier than the typical. Here's a photo from Bill in RI 6b who grows it successfully in New England. It is way down near the bottom of the thread.

It stayed alive (limping along) in my garden for about 3 years, but I think the winter that hit -23 finally did it in. I think it might be worth trying for you since it is supposed to be hardy to zone 5. With added mulch for protection you might find it does fine.

zone 6b would probably be the coldest it can take. Very doubtful about 5b.

I'm in zone 5-6 and planted 3 very small ones that I ordered on ebay. They all survived this past winter. They are beautiful, a much softer yellow (which I prefer) than the pics I've seen. I mulched with leaves and it worked for me :0) I say give it a try!

Yeah I always thought I was zone 5.. but everywhere I check now says I'm zone 6? So I think it can't hurt to try... they're fairly inexpensive and it IS the margarita version likeNHBabs said so I'll keep you updated how it does after the winter
