The last two are definitely dogwood of some kind.

Thanks Jerry and Mulberry. I hadn't thought of a River birch on plant 2. The Dogwood variety makes sense now that you say that! Anyone else who can help is much appreciated!

I'm wondering if one is a hawthorn?

I was able to compare plant 2 leaves and bark to a River Birch and that's exactly what it is! So now I'm left figuring out plant 1 and plant 3. The last one is a type of Dogwood I agree and I'm looking in my spare time to figure out which variety. I still have no clue on plant 1.

I want to say that plant 1 looks a lot similar to a box elder that is in the maple family.

I did not want to say that though as I have never seen a box elder with the middle lobe so pronounced. But, if you look real closely you can almost see the five pointed Maple genetics in there hiding but still there in the leafs outline. But I think a boxelder grows its leaves directly opposite each other along the stem instead of alternating like that. So I did not say. Not sure but its purdy.

I think plant one is a hawthorn. I have one in my woods. Not sure though. But I don't believe it is boxelder as the leaflets that make up boxelder's compound leaves are opposite on the stem. There are usually three of them with 2 opposite each other and one terminal one. So not boxelder.

Arbor Day got back with me also and thought plant 1 was a Sassafras Tree. I also put Hawthorn on my potential list. They also confirmed plant 3 is a Dogwood of some variety, but couldn't be specific until I send pics of the blooms. I'll keep it posted on this thread. These have been some tough ones to ID.

I received some trees from the Arbor Day once and the tags were mixed up and what was supposed to be a dogwood grew up to be a Bradford Pear. I would rather had a dogwood.

Number one is definitly NOT a sassafras. I pull seedlings out of my flower beds all the time and that ain't it.

Here is another plant I can't seem to ID. It grows wild along creeks and pond dams I've noticed. I've got a huge bush like this on my pond backdrop that has big white blooms.

Thank you for the quick response! I believe that is correct as well after reading up on the Elderberry bush. I'm learning lots of good knowledge on this forum. I will soon post more updated pics of the original plants I was trying to ID.

Here are new photos as the plants have changed slightly into the summer. We have figured out plant #2, but I'm still not completely sure on plant #1 or #3. I'd love any new ideas!

I know this is one of the dogwoods, but don't know which one. Here we have the common large-flowered one and the rough-leaved which smells kind of skunky and has flower heads more like an elderberry but smaller.

Here are new updated photos. All 3 plants have grown incredibly this summer.

Just spoke with the Arbor Day office and they are now leaning towards plant #1 being a Washington Hawthorn with some unique leaf coloring. As for plant #3 they are leaning toward Gray Dogwood shrub. Any thoughts are appreciated.
