Yes but problem is it's in Wisconsin and this is the lower level. I'm scared tile/wood would be too cold in the winter.

IMO carpet and kids are never a good match not only because the carpet gets gross but can also harbor all kinds of allergens. Ithink in a MCM house a hardwood floor is a much better choice or even marmoleum. Then just some cleanable rugs for warmth

I highly recommend this line of Stanton Carpet. You can research it yourself..called “Anywhere”. It might be your perfect solution. Indoor/outdoor and the textures and patterns are great. And, bonus, will compliment your trim.
