That's what I'm calling this sweet woodruff. Pic #1 shows what I call the "Driveway Hosta Bed" planted in 2015 using pine needles as mulch. It's always super dry there due to a huge alder tree sucking up all the moisture. I have to give this area extra water all season long so the hostas don't suffer.

All other pics were taken this morning. A couple of weeks ago I extended this bed a little to make the curvy bit more lawn tractor-friendly, so the last pic shows a bare patch. I easily but carefully pull out the sweet woodruff from around the existing hostas and transplant it immediately into the bare patch. I'm sure by end of this year it will be fully covered. My original intent was just to pretty up the space with something shade-tolerant to complement the hostas but I think I've done them a favor; the ground is far less dry with this live mulch. The hostas will tower over the sweet woodruff foliage in a couple of weeks' time.
