What do you have against "ready cheap" begonias? Yes, the ones at Walmart, Lowe's, and "Hinge" Depot will do most everybody very well in a home setting. I would study up on the different type begonias though as each type may have slightly different needs and also behave differently over the course of a year.

Did you mean tubers? I haven't seen any begonias grown from "corms". Why grow them from tubers if you can buy them already grown and blooming? I bought a couple from Walmart recently for around $4. I think most tuberous prefer brighter light though they can be grown in lower light. Be warned that tuberous begonias will go dormant in winter so either threat them as annuals or learn how to winter over the tuber.

The begonias in these pots were from Walmart. The New Guinea impatiens from a big nursery in Chattanooga. They get full sun from 9 to about noon.

Nothing wrong with inexpensive plants of any kind. Most of us only have those big box stores to shop in. Yes, yes, I know there is online,,,,but not all of us like or can do that for many different reasons. My Gryphon begonia was $2.79 for a 4 inch pot at our local greenhouse several years ago when I bought her. My gryphon is no different than the gryphon you will buy on ebay. Same plant,,,different source!

My only other begonia is teensy eensy Begonia "Smidgens". Sooooo tiny. I just had to get her, I love, love, love teensy tiny plants! She has to live in a small terrarium. But boy that thing is a prolific grower!!!!!

I just lost my rhizomatous that had been struggling for quite a while. Could not figure out how to help her.

Begonias can grow from tubers,,,,not corms that I am aware of. Good luck! Rosie
