Very nice "Snake River"! From the title I thought I might be seeing some pics of the real Snake River that runs from south of Yellowstone National Park thru Idaho and up into Oregon. It's an awesome river to run the rapids on or go for a slow paced float thru the Teton Valley. If you've never been there, I highly recommend it!

Your Atlantis will probably get big really quick. Mine has been in the ground since 2014 and has already turned into a monster!

I would love to have such a garden, but I do know that it is a lot of work coming along with it. My ways are short and I sometimes spend an hour with showering. Snake River is looking good, maybe a second one could cross number one at some place and different colors could flow into another, like Rio Negro is flowing into big Amazonas...:-)

Linda, hmmmmm, rapids.....small variegated hosta strategically placed to look like...... Never been to Snake River, but I've heard it is gorgeous.

Karin, I think criss-crossing might be too busy. My future plans for this would be outline with small variegated hosta to make it pop a little more and fill around the Frosted Jades with something low and green that would simulate land; ideas? Jon

Ann, they are doing well, even the ones that are further under the Canadian Hemlocks. The ones towards the outside took off very quickly, but the sun handicapped plants are catching up surprisingly quick. Jon

Jon..they're doing VERY well..I didn't plant this but I have wild ginger here and there and it spreads..wonder if it would fill in around the hostas and give you a "land" feel..

Ann....I have some European Ginger getting established down in the Ravine! That is a great idea! It is just getting established, but it is supposed to spread quickly. It would be a natural for what I want. I'm glad I thought of it. (kidding) Thanks, Jon

That dark green Ginger should look good with your snake river:-). Don't you have moss in your woods? I was looking at the pictures and couldn't find any...don't tell me you rounded it up :-(...I like Sagina subulata (Sternmoos in German), but it is quite expensive around here...

Karin, yes I have moss, but not in this area although my neighbors have some close nearby. Back in the Ravine there is some as well. It grows on hard packed soil or on rocks. I think the soil in this area is too loose to accommodate moss. I like moss and there is no way I would try to kill it. I have moss that grows in the space between pavers on my front walkway as well. It is a different moss and the type I only see on sidewalks and in joints as I described. It is free here. My previous neighbor took some moss (plenty in the woods around here) and mixed it in a blender with buttermilk spread it and kept it moist and successfully grew a lot. When he put his house up for sale the agent said it would drive customers away and he killed all the moss. Jon

When I was a child we had lots of moss in the woods around, but many things have changed since that time and not to the best...You are right, moss grows better on a hard surface...but I do like the look of those cushions...

I bought one little plant of Sternmoos for below pot, costs more than 3 Euro :-( can not afford to plant a bigger area with it...

I've been looking around and there is some moss growing under a nearby big tree where nothing else grows. I'm going to take some and transplant it and see what happens. I will plant some in patches and hope it fills in. I will transplant some ginger as well and see which (if any) work well. Jon
