Shimadaijin should be deep-ish purple and not red, with silk-like shine and texture on the petals. Here is a picture of mine that opened this week; the actual flower has a deeper colour than the picture. The flower bud and petal arrangement also look different from yours. I think yours was mislabelled.

Your photo is definitely more in the colour spectrum that we were expecting to see.

Leaves are wrong for Shimadaijin. However I have no idea who it is but love the laciness of the leaves. You have a winner even if it is not what you wanted.

Yes, I agree! The pictures don't do the colour justice, it's almost like a pink highlighter. I'll have to leave my OCD at the door and just enjoy.

Hana Daijin's leaves do not look like his. You have to look at the whole plant not just the flower.
