Mikgag, your zone has nothing to do with how well your hostas will grow in full sun, your latitude does, it's the angle of the sun that determines it. I'm in zone 7/8 here in Canada's banana belt, just above the 49th parallel and I have a LOT of hostas in full sun but prefer to keep the blues in shadier parts. With increased sun exposure comes increased evaporation so there will be a need to be vigilant about keeping it hydrated.

I have approx 150 in full sun, just not that one, hence the question. I'm in NS on the 45th parallel and I water like I'm trying to win a watering contest with an imaginary neighbor.....

Be prepared for the blue to gradually disappear but you're prepared for that already by the sounds of it... Good luck with it!

I have mine in approximately 7 hours of morning sun until around 2:00 or so. Moved it to that location last year. This photo in previous, more sheltered locale, followed by relocation to "sun colour".

Last July - see the lighter green ?appearing from sun exposure but no other adverse effects. No scorching, no sunburn, other than sporadic glaucous coating melt-off in places on some leaves. A tough hosta that maintains its beauty. It is under the deck right in front of brick wall so it is warm there to boot.
