This is my favorite time of year; everything is growing and budding, showing the great promises of blooms.

Therese Bugnet was my first; she started last Saturday.

William Baffin is beginning to bloom too.

Mutabilis has SURVIVED winter and is re-sprouting well; this first bloom is malformed. I don't know how long it can keep trucking, but this China made it.

Frau Karl Druschki is budding like crazy!

Midnight Blue has opened its first purple bloom.

The peonies are going to be fabulous.

Tradescant is nicely budded too.

Winchester Cathedral is getting ready!

Harison's Yellow has even deemed me worthy of a single bloom from old growth.

Lady Emma Hamilton is entering her fourth growing season and looks great!

More to follow in the coming days.

I'd love to continue seeing more of everyone's spring flush.

Steven

    Thank you all so much!

I shall indeed share more, for I love seeing everyone's bounty. I get as excited as a kid for cake (but I do enjoy a good piece).

Looking awesome!! I can only only imagine your excitement as you have to wait a bit longer to get your blooms. I'm going crazy by March haha. It's sporadic blooms around here waiting on round 2!

Everything looks great! I love this time of year too, so exiting! I enjoy seeing the buds just as much as the roses (ok maybe I like the roses a bit more haha).

Yay for the spring flush! Your plants look very healthy. Post more bloom shots as they come, plus the peonies you mentioned. My peony looks like it's going to have a good bloom this year too.

I have no idea about this peonies' name, unfortunately. Like so many plants, they were a start from my Grandmother's (maternal) house they had in Jackson, MI in the 1970's and brought starts when they moved to the Coldwater Lake area to what was initially a vacation home. They've been here as long as I can remember. They're also wonderfully fragrant.

Indeed! The strawberries are 'Sparkle' and I've had a couple early ones so far. Shockingly- sweet even with a bit of white yet. To let them ripen fully means the nocturnal critters get 'em. I really need caging. I have also been surprised at their unbounded enthusiasm to wander. Rip, pull, toss, repeat. Like violets!

Thank you all for the kind words.

Wow your plants look so clean and healthy! That peony is just gorgeous! Mine never get that big, but it's a lot hotter here, so I guess I'm lucky to have them at all!

Thank you! It's not visible in the photos yet, but some of my plants have black spot already. I try to be as organic based as possible.

I can smell the fresh air in your garden. Glorious.

Fresh air? I can smell the Gertrude Jekyll blooms - and I am so jealous! I really need to add that rose back into my gardens. You're just a bit ahead of me in your first flush, Steven. I'm still anxiously monitoring the many buds out there...so far, the only open blooms are on the very bottom of Williams Double Yellow. But soon there will be a bounty!

BTW, your heirloom peony looks much like the peony taken from my grandmother's garden in Detroit (which has yet to open up here.) Don't know the name either, but precious, isn't it?

Ooh! How thrilling! Those first few blooms are such teases!

I agree completely regarding the peony, AnneCecilia. I need to visit her soon, but the peony reminds me of being a little kid helping Grandma pull weeds and maybe cut some blooms for indoors. Between the plant itself and the scent, so many memories can instantly become focused and clear. I love the sweet fragrance they have and I will be sure to take a piece when I obtain my own property/home, hehe.

More are popping this morning. William Baffin is practically at its peak while the irises and peonies are already winding down.

    Frau Karl Druschki
The Ingenious Mr. Fairchild (I shall do a little review on him later this year)
    Sunsprite is close!
    Perle d'Or
    Midnight Blue
A body bag labelled Duchesse de Brabant.
Again, 'DbD'; I'm not 100%, but it is sweetly scented.
