Given a few more years Denis your jungle will be taking over like mine has. They are all coming on well. What are you doing to Raspberry Sundae? It's growing at quite a rate, much faster than mine!

You have so many beautiful ones! Hard to choose which are my favorites but maybe Moonlight Sonata and Satisfaction since I don't have either of those. Your Hollywood Lights looks so pretty! Mine is being super slow and is still not fully out.

So nice Dave! It's hosta heaven, and all in pots. I have about a dozen pots and I'm not fond of moving mine! More power to you, just lovely!

Nice! Your plants are really getting big. Those flower stalks on Komodo Dragon look like they're on steroids, lol. ...I remember you also had a Ringtail, but I don't think I see it. Is yours growing? Mine is very slow so far.

Hostanista, that's interesting, does yours have shiney leaves? mine is just matt/dull.

Dave, I've not done anything special to it, just seems to be very happy and elbows the others out of the way like a certain President lol.

Linda, Satisfaction gets big quickly, I'm looking forward to Moonlight Sonata getting bigger its quite a distinctive hosta. Hollywood lights and paradise Backstage are both not out fully yet, need On Stage to complete the trio.

Sherry, I do have a few in the ground (gasp!) I don't move the pots very often, I even left them all out over winter with no protection.

Nicholsworth, I'm a sucker for the uprights, they are quite elegant and yes like a bouquet and only get better as they get bigger.

Mbug,I must do a tally, I'm not sure, guessing about 150 ish.

Sandyslopes, yes I have Ringtail, it is with a batch in line for repotting, it is doing ok not great but ok. It got very ripply this year, I will grab a snap tomorrow for you.

Denis, I love your "jungle," but the individual plants stand out beautifully and are all so healthy and happy looking! Moonlight Sonata is calling to me!!!!! I'll now be looking for that one.

I also really like those uprights, and Snowden is amazing! And I specially like it when hosta flower scapes stand up in an orderly fashion... so your Komodo Dragon really catches my eye. And actually, every time I see a photo of KD I just love it... so I'll probably have to work that one into the plan, too!

And Antioch- I know everyone says it's an old standby, but I don't have it, and I think it's just gorgeous! Has yours been slow to grow? It surely is pretty!!! I saw a photo somewhere of Antioch in a whiskey barrel... and I have a barrel that I'm kinda tired of filling with annuals... hmmmm....

Oh WOW! Denis! What a difference a year makes. I just LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! what I am seeing! Hosta jungle is right - I just want to plop myself down right in the middle of it all, grinning like an idiot, I'd be so happy!!!

I think the flower stalks on Komodo Dragon are stunning. They look like an architectural effect that has been added on. I can't think of another hosta that has like scapes, can anyone?

Last year, Denis you were trying to sell me ;-) on Hollywood Lights and I can certainly see why! I love it's look. Now it's my turn to egg you onto ON STAGE but my pics don't do mine justice so you will have to admire others' until I get a good shot of it a bit later. 'Tis only right that you complete your trio, surely ;-).

Antioch - trust me when I say it just gets better and better! This year the second flush produced corrugated leaves and I just adore the look. I have had this one for a number of years, it is too large for its location to the side of the front door but clear of approaching feet. Does not "block the exits" (as Babka's husband's words are etched in our minds). It just seems to belong there, you know?

Your Brother Stefan has beautiful colouration! Mine isn't as colourful yet. I still just can't get over the size and progress of your hostas! It is a sight to behold.

Wendy, your post popped in while I was sending mine so I have to add a comment re Antioch. It gives me the fuzzies to hear you say you think it is gorgeous....because it is! So you just have to keep that barrel empty until you get yourself an Antioch, right?;-). My 2 cents re its growth rate - it grows under a wide eave, doesn't get supplemental water unless in hot and dry months of July & August rains are scarce, then I will hand water at least once a week. In my location it does not grow that quickly but it's not a slowpoke either. A division grew larger leaves when I had growing at the side of an east-facing wall. Now that it is in almost full sun, it has tripled in mass. A beauty - there is one somewhere to be had that is waiting for your love. :-)

What a great year you are having Denis! Amazing that you have blooms coming already in your jungle, the growth is incredible. Soon there will not be pots large enough to hold them!!!

Here is a pic of my Ringtail for you Sandyslopes, its doing better than I thought, looks better viewed from the side than directly above. Wet and windy today so some leaves were blowing about and are out of focus.

Karin, you're right about them standing to attention in the early morning. your JC will be huge before you know it, interesting that yours is not shiny either. The lower flowers on KD last year were semi double v pretty. Snowden has become one of my favorites, it is really elegant, and grew fairly fast too. That is very nice to say about my RS, I don't know but it's nice to hear you say it lol.

Windymess, Moonlight Sonata is fragrant too! yes floppy scapes look a bit messy and KD's are bolt upright like a good soldier. My Antioch came as a single small eye mail order, it grew a bit the first year and then just kinda sat there taunting me with a few tiny leaves foe a couple of years so we had a chat and we agreed that I'd stop calling him names and that he would put a bit more effort onto it so all good so far. ( I probably forgot to fert him, not his fault)

Jo, you would be welcome to come and plop in my jungle anytime, lol. On Stage is on my list, she is a stunning hosta. I'm looking forward to Antioch growing up, sounds like its worth whispering sweet nothings into its pot. this year the leaves are the biggest they have ever been so far. It gets a second flush? well that will be a first for him. My BS has nice colouring but has not got as much corrugation as others I've seen on here, I wonder why?Here is another shot for you, always good to share

Zkathy, Yes they look a bit similar at this stageI, I had not really noticed, as they mature GA's leaves do not hang as low as JC and are wider, they look very different at maturity. Your JC is gorgeous, it has that lovely ripple that mine is missing, looks very happy in its barrel.

Peren.all, yes a good year so far, warm start to spring then a cold bit then back to warm again, a bit below average rainfall which is a bonus. The warm weather has encouraged many to push up their scapes, this often happens with a warm may and then we get a cool june and the flowers abort, this happened last year it is a pain but I don't grow them for the flowers. Yes some are getting really big, I can get bigger pots but not a new back, some will have to go into the ground soon ish.

Thanks for the picture, Denis! Your Ringtail looks much bigger than mine, and I think we got them around the same time. I didn't know if it was a super slow grower or what. Mine might be planted a smidge too deep, so I'm going to lift it up a little higher and see if that helps it. Thanks for showing me how it should be growing. :-)

Am I just seeing things because it's wet or does yours have a lot of bumples (?) That's not tissue collapse, is it? Maybe it's weather related? The few leaves I have are smooth down the middle, ...but mine is a runt so probably not a good comparison.

By the way, love your 'Nigrescens' - I remember thinking when you first listed it on a previous purchase list..."there is a man who might be sentimental and values a traditional hosta". It is a commanding hosta in any garden and is looking mighty fine in that photo. I don't have one yet...

Sandyslopes, I saw your post this morning but waited to reply until I had taken a few close up photos, I got ringtail in an order in spring of 2015 when it looked normal if a bit leggy.

Last year it did this, lol.

So on to how it looks now, it seems to have bumples (lovely word) or corrugation on every leaf, it doesn't look virus ed to me but then I am a mere mortal and what do I know, but then it would be off type looking at all the pics in the library. Anyway have a look and see what you think.

It is dry in these photos and has been lunch for some slugs.

Could it be cold damage? It is not being a boring green hosta anyway!

Jo, I am a auld sentimental soul and it is the reason I have Frances Williams despite her faults but nigrescens has really impressed me going from 4 eyes last year to 14 this year and is a very distinctive hosta and seems happy in full sun here too (such as it is lol).

Bumples...:-) Denis, I do have a lot of leaves with bumples this year on different hostas, so I think it is a problem caused by the cold spring we had. The new leaves all come out perfect now that it is finally the right weather to grow hostas:-)

Another problem is that lots of leaves are really hard and kind of cracked, especially the blue ones, but I'm pretty sure this is also cold damage as are the brown dots...

Your Ringtail is certainly not boring and seems to want to be its own individual, not like every other Ringtail out there. ;-) The close ups don't look virused to me, either. I'd go with some cold damage, but maybe it's a more textured hosta than I thought. Thanks for the closeups. Maybe mine will get bumples, too.
