Yes I could also see it being Coloratus (euonymous). Did it flower have any flowers at all?

I thought about it being wintercreeper, but mine has much larger leaves ,though that might be an environmental thing based on growing conditions. My wintercreeper is large, well-established and can ramble and roam to its heart's content, and I do think the leaves are much larger now than they were 10 years ago when it was younger and smaller overall.

Definitely not vinca major. I went out and looked at mine and the leaves aren't at all serrated. Plus they are more heart shaped than elongated. Also more tender looking.

Thank you all very much for your comments! It was identified as wintercreeper by the OSU agricultural extension folks, so we got some and planted.
