I think kumquats bloom right around now or even a little later. My fukushu has buds as well.

I've read that they bloom in late spring. Wish mine would!

Kumquat trees tend to bloom when the day length change is near 0 in the summer solstice.

My kumquat (a seedless nagami), as many plants here in Guatemala.... blooms twice per year and has fruit virtually year round. It is a "normal" time for it to bloom now; but much depends on your local microclimate

zippity, I'm over near Beaumont, Texas and my kumquats are just now blooming. My trees also bloom several times during late spring/summer.
