Fireplace walls

Any suggestions on what I should do to style my fireplace mantle and the walls on either side of it? I am stuck and struggling.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Beautiful room. I think a few black accents could help. Like the painting, or you could consider the silver art squares from Uttermost.

So pretty...I love symmetry so I would suggest matching mirror flanking fireplace and art or some type of would wall art over fireplace. Would hang them all horizontal above cabinets...

You could hang the tree wall art over fireplace or here is a wood piece I love from West Elm.

Thank you for the ideas. I was thinking about metal art or mirrors but wondered if it would be too cold or too busy. Then I was thinking about light colored abstracts too. I hadn't thought about high contrasting items but that looks good too. That tree canvas is just something I had and put up there to see if I wanted a canvas of some sort.

Just say you added a table lamp behind sofa with a color from art - though this is lively, it's a Family Room {?} -- this above tv, then?

I love the calm comfy feel from your already monochromatic style...I would keep it going...I think adding mirrors would be gorgeous and with the fireplace stone adding some more organic feeling items like wood and textured pillows would look beautiful...a long wood box with succulents on the middle of the mantle would really be nice.

I looked at your other photos, and it's beautiful. What specifically has you feeling a struggle? I like the greige next to fireplace, etc.... seems good shine and metallic here and there, nice!

Pros? - contemporary lines of small fire, mantel and round item, seems good. Though I liked the tree art, it wouldn't seem needed over??

Put some color over there. Yes, I know it is monochromatic....however....it needs a shot of color.

Well... that stone can be a little updated... check out one of the fireplaces we did recently:

Nice thing your tv is contained within the built in; art could be propped on top, even... Is one side a different width....

Thanks everdebz. No same width for each wall unit. I am most struggling with finding something for the walls above the wall units.

Whatever you decide on, incorporate the dark brown wood tones as seen in the mantle and pillows; it helps warm the grey tones in the rest of the room. And I like the organic and textural element of the stone. Please don't change that!

I like the idea of art over the mantel, and then keeping it simple on the sides -- maybe one large vase or a small grouping of candlesticks, like in Grover's rendering. If you stick with a mirror or some items on the mantel, then I guess you should get two smaller coordinating paintings for either side. But I prefer the other approach.

Found this wood Uttermost mirror..thought it would look great above cabinet on both side...

with a calm landscape art over fireplace.

You can still layer a vase or sculpture with the mirrors to give it depth.

Depends on your and yours, and what it seems like in person.... often that way.. hm.
