I'm pretty sure that this is sprouting up from the rootstock, which is M111 I believe. The scion is Honeycrisp which is absolutely doing miserably here in SoCal, but I knew that it would be a gamble. The scion has finally broken dormancy and there is one bud that has started to leaf out. Not much else activity. There were some suckers from the rootstock right at the graft, I pruned them away. The leaves from the water sprout that popped up from the roots has the same red tinge around the edges that the Honeycrisp has. Anyways, pretty sure I need to trim it away, just want to make sure.
