So I am not new to growing per-say, but its been a while since I put any effort in. I am in the process of cleaning up an old garden on our property with the intent of growing vegetables and herbs.

Since this is the Herb forum, my main question is, do most of you grow herbs indoors? Or do you like to have them outside in a garden, with or without other kinds of flora? I'm looking to grow around 10 different varieties of herbs in as high of a quantity as my space will allow.

Also, as a follow-up, with regards to ants and herbs specifically, should they be considered dangerous or helpful? My yard is absolutely infested with what I have been assuming are just "garden ants" or whatever. They don't appear to have done any harm to anything aside from the ant-hills, so I've let them be. Should I be concerned about that before planting?
