Sure looks dead to me. Were the canes brown when it arrived?

Yes they were they had tiny sprouts on them too but they withered after that freeze so I trimmed it off. I also trimmed the stem a little too. They looked fresh and moist in the stem. I didn't trim it at an angle though.

That's what most research I've read says to do. I just found one that says to soak the roots first as well, when I reorder next spring I'll do that. I have another that I fertilize right away too and it's About three feet tall.

I don't recommend fertilizing until after the first bloom on repeat bloomers. Some don't fertilize at all the first year, only water.
