I bought a tiny plant with two leaves in a 1 1/4 inch pot two and a half years ago. Having grown crinums before, and waited four to five years for a much larger bulb to settle in and produce blooms...this was a shock over the weekend when I noticed the stalk.

This is 'Shreck', and it has a sister of 'Ellen Bosanquet' who has not yet decided to flower, but is of comparable size (foliage wise) and of same age.

I know it's not Hippeastrum, but it's Amaryllidacea. Enjoy...crinums aren't much planted any more and certainly not out of the South. But are semi to evergreen plants looking much like a young corn plant, and producing often huge bulbs.
