What is this weed?

This weed we thought my be because of overwatering last summer. Underneath it looks like stings of cotton growing in one direction. Looks like thatch but is the weed spreading under the grass on top of the soil. It has spread over the last couple of years. Very fine and makes the grass look really healthy!

yes it is. Pulled a few strands then decided to post another photo.

You can add photos to a thread. That keeps all the info together and helps readers follow. Different posts get separated and people don't see all the info. Just for future reference.
