I see what you mean. Paint it brown, same as the drywall above. Or paint it black to go with floor tile -- I don't prefer this though. Or stain it the same color as the island cabinetry (is the baseboard stain ready)? Change out the receptacle from white to brown as well. Good luck!

First just try painting that kick board black to match what's already installed on the floor. That may be enough. Otherwise, try wiping on a gel stain toachieve a wood grain look to the current color. It does match the rest of it.

Yes. Paint the white part - try to match the finish to the sheen of the black part of the floor. Then match the back panel to the wood grain of the rest of the island.
