Take the kitten to the vet to confirm that it is ringworm (though it very well could be given the person with ringworm in the home). They can run a culture, and then advise how to treat the kitten. For example, there are medicated baths/dips that they use at the shelter where I volunteer (lime or lime-sulphur I believe).

You will need to wash all bedding and towels and toys (and clothing worn when handling your kitty) frequently. Hot water is recommended, but I'll wash my shelter clothes in cold or warm water; adding an auto-soak cycle at the start of the load, and extended wash time ("heavy" soil option). The idea is that the outer "wall" of any fungal spores are destroyed from extended exposure to the detergent, and then the ringworm spores can't survive.

I don't know if any surface sprays are recommended (for carpeting, floors, furniture....), but a friend and shelter director swore by Chlorhexedrine (sp?) solution in a spray bottle.

Oh, good luck to you. It can be conquered but it's a lot of work (but worth it!). Definitely get a confirmation from the vet and get the medicated bath stuff and use it on the cat as prescribed. And use bleach and hot water on your clothing, floors, linens, anywhere the cat (or the person who had it) frequents.

Cat_mom is right in what she says. I had ringworm in my home a few years ago and 4 cats got it. It was torture for months, but had to be done. I had to just buck up and do it.

Ringworm is just a fungus. You can kill it with any anti-fungal such as Tinactin.
