Best to get more advice from those that are used to growing imported, bare-rooted plants....I don't want to advise the wrong thing. Is that a few new leaves I see starting to pop already???

The level in which you have them is good. You can lift at another time once they have acclimatized and grown a bit.

Be careful w the colored rock/pebbles. Sometimes, depending on what they are coated w they can create problems with roots. I had some black ones and when they became hot from sun, they fused together.

Ray, you potted them in nice little pots! I, too, have run by the flea market to see if I can pick up inexpensive planters. I had to laugh out loud at the one in the casserole/crock pot. Too funny!

With my diamond tip drill bits nothing is safe from becoming a planter! The casserole dish with the ears makes it easy to move!

Ray, the seeds did indeed arrive and my jaw dropped! I am truly overwhelmed by your generosity! I think there are around 50 seeds of eight different varieties in your package. How much fun can a girl have?!?! A million thanks for sharing this with me - I can hardly wait!

It doesn't have to be sunny, or even daylight to plant seeds, right? I'm thinking about getting started tonight! I need to do some more reading - make sure I know what I'm doing - I think I read something about not starting seeds when rain is forecast and we have a monsoon in our forecast for the next several days... I have to read some more...

Hi Ray, your seed set up looks good! Since we're nearly neighbors - and my seeds came from YOU (!), I'd like to copycat what you are doing. (If that is ok!) A few questions:

What is your mix ratio of those three ingredients?

I have cactus mix (MiracleGro) and perlite. Need to get some coco coir. Where do you buy yours?

What brand of cactus mix do you use?

Hi Carol the Coco coir is from a place in Apopka, Deco something, the mixture is probably Fifty Coco,thirty perlite and twenty cactus soil(miricale gro). After they germinate they seem to do better in the Coco,rather than the fifty fifty cactus soil/ perlite. Good growing with your seeds! I'm sorry to hear about Mr. KO being so busy, alot of people must have come down with the DR. Addiction!

Ray, have your seeds come up? Did you get good germination?

I planted my seeds on Wednesday, June 21. Starting to see some bulging soil. Hoping to see the hints of some green leaves tomorrow. They've been getting plenty of heat and moisture... would love to have some babies!

How many days did yours take under the lamps on the heat mats?

Jumping on Ray's thread because he most kindly and generously shared some seeds with me. Planted them last Wednesday, late in the afternoon. First ones started to show signs of life on Saturday (three days later). Today, Monday (five days later), half of my seeds are up!... About half are above soil surface and the other half have soil bulges.

Ray, I can't thank you enough! SO MUCH FUN!
