Hi

I have inherited a number of hostas and i would like to give them adequate care and attention, so that they thrive.

My question is kind of 2 parted.

Part 1...

Can anyone identify any of these varieties please (see photos). I am hoping that one of them is "Janet", since that was Mum's name.

Part 2...

I think many of the hostas have outgrown their pots but my dad claims they need to be pot-bound. My dad always says this about ANY plant because he is too mean to buy bigger pots. Obviously he will be correct in some cases but i don't trust his gardening judgement. So, at what point should hostas be re-potted? Or is it variety dependant? If so, could anyone point me toward any resource, so i can find out please?
