Bouteloua is slow to get established. It is also a warm season grass so takes time to start putting on its growth in the spring. Blonde Ambition looks like it will be very attractive once it gets going. I have a younger Side Oats Grama which is a prairie native and I am waiting for it to get well established.

Yes, it is pretty slow to appear. Although very popular in the trade, it doesn't show up in local nurseries until well into summer, like July.

Thanks for that info that it can be slow. I've been almost ready to substitute my favorite Pennisetums for the Blonde Ambitions, but I'll give them more time now.

Meanwhile, the plot thickens, so to speak, as I've noticed a couple of nearby Perennials looking nibbled and this morning my husband spotted a cottontail in the garden, so perhaps the rabbit (and friends) have been nibbling at it. I'll have to check them to see if I can tell if they have been nibbled.

Definitely a rabbit problem! Bought some Deer and Rabbit repellent and the grasses started to grow.
